Alumni / Parent Admission Recruitment Team (A / PART)

A/PART Overview:

The primary goals and objectives of the A/PART program are to:

  1. identify students who are good OWU prospects,
  2. encourage these students to apply, and
  3. convince accepted students to enroll.

One of the most valuable contributions alumni and parents can make to the University is to assist in our recruitment of new and talented students. You can help the Admission Office expand the scope of its recruitment efforts by representing OWU at college fair programs, contacting prospective students who attend high schools in your area, hosting or attending receptions for students and their families, and by conducting alumni interviews. The flexible nature of the program allows participation to be easily adapted to your time and schedule.

How You Can Help

Refer a Student » Tell us about your children, cousins, neighbors, or other children whom you think would fit in well on Ohio Wesleyan's campus. Send us their contact information and interests so that we can add them to our mailing list. Also, keep in mind that we offer legacy grants to children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and step-grandchildren of those who attended OWU.

Represent OWU at College Fairs » Distribute literature and answer questions at college fairs throughout the fall and spring. Because our Admission staff cannot cover all fairs, A/PART members help us to spread the word about OWU. Volunteers may also be asked to assist Admission staff members at fairs.

Contact Prospective Students » Personal contact (by phone, mail, or E-mail) with prospective students occurs throughout the year. Through "high school assignments," we connect you with high school seniors in your community. When students from your assigned schools visit, are admitted, or make their enrollment deposit, we will send you a notice and ask you to contact these students.

Support Prospective Student Receptions » Host, coordinate, attend, or provide financial support for a reception of prospective students in your local area. We have receptions throughout the year in various parts of the country as well as right here on campus.

Conduct Alumni Interviews » Contact a student in your community who wishes to learn more about Ohio Wesleyan. Students who live a distance from campus sometimes request alumni interviews so that they can learn more about OWU before they decide to visit campus.

Future Bishop Clipping Service » Alumni and friends of OWU are encouraged to review regional/local newspapers, school newsletters and publications and other media outlets for announcements of outstanding high school student achievements.  Examples include (but not limited to) National Merit recognition, National Achievement recognition, Athletic recognition, participation in science fairs, community service activities and dance, musical, theater productions.  Alumni should send in the relevant publication or clipping along with any available information on the student (current high school, grade level, mailing address and phone from phone book or other source). Clippings are to be sent to the Alumni Relations office (attention Ed Lenane).  Upon receipt the student’s record will be updated/created with any available information.  The clipping will then be provided to the appropriate admission counselor for action/follow-up.
