Your Giving Opportunities

Ohio Wesleyan University appreciates and honors the generosity of alumni, parents, and friends—a generosity that enables the University to fulfill its commitment to teaching, research, and community service. There are many opportunities to support the University, which include:

Annual Fund » Ohio Wesleyan’s Annual Fund provides income each year for the operating budget, the largest portion of which supports student scholarships and financial aid. Faculty projects and the ongoing costs of operating the physical plant also gain support from the Annual Fund. A special Thank You is extended to our family and friends in celebration of surpassing our 2006-07 Annual Fund goal of $3.8 million, highest amount in Ohio Wesleyan history.

TEAM OWU » This donation option provides income each year for Ohio Wesleyan’s varsity athletic programs. Gifts supplement day-to-day needs, such as uniforms, equipment, and transportation to sports events.

Remembering Mr. Rickey » Ohio Wesleyan’s first comprehensive capital campaign to address the needs of all varsity athletic teams, club and recreational sports, the physical education department, and dance. The entire OWU and Delaware community will benefit from these new and renovated facilities!

Endowment » Earnings from Ohio Wesleyan’s endowment are one of the most important sources of support for the University today. Endowment funds are invested as capital, rather than used as cash for immediate needs.

Methods of Giving

There are two ways you can give to Ohio Wesleyan: via outright gifts and via planned gifts.

Outright Gifts » Outright gifts are direct, immediate donations made with cash, check, credit card, securities, real estate, tangible personal property, or non-traditional investments.

Matching Gifts » Many companies encourage their employees to support Ohio Wesleyan by matching the employees’ and (in some companies) retirees’ donations. Details on matching gift programs vary from company to company, but companies generally match gifts according to a set ratio up to a specified amount. Planned Gifts » Planned gifts are often referred to as deferred gifts, in that they allow you to defer a gift to some future date. Typically, planned gifts include bequests from wills and charitable trusts, charitable gift annuities, and pooled income funds.

How You Can Help

The easiest way to make a contribution is through OWU’s secure donation Web site using a credit card. Credit card donations can also be made via telephone by calling Judy Earls, Gifts Coordinator, at 740-368-3317.

Personal checks, business checks, money orders, and other “hard currency” donations (except cash) should be made payable to Ohio Wesleyan University, and should be mailed to:
