Gordon M. Almstead Memorial Scholarship Fund

February 1, 2008

Dear Mrs. Rhinesmith:

Thank you so much for your contribution to the Gordon Almstead Memorial Scholarship. My name is Marie Elyse Krulewitch and I have been fortunate enough to be assisted with this scholarship this year.

I am a second semester freshman, from Indianapolis, IN. I have been singing for as long as I can remember and in high school I devoted the majority of my scholastic and extra-curricular time to music, or music related activities. I am so glad to have been able to continue my vocal students here at Ohio Wesleyan, and I have definitely taken advantage of the performance opportunities. Last semester I participated in the Choral Arts Ensemble and Women’s Chorus, Opera Workshop, and in the women’s a cappella group “Pitch Black.” I’ve continued my participation in all of these groups this semester and plan to participate in them for the rest of my Ohio Wesleyan experience.

While singing is certainly a major passion of mine, I have many other interests as well, Last semester I took all music and science courses because I was planning to double major in zoology and music, however, this semester I’ve decided to explore all of the department, as I am no longer certain of what I would like to do as a profession.

In addition to music I am a member of the dance team “Ladies in Red,” and participate in Hillel events (an intercollegiate association that organizes Jewish events as well as participate in interfaith events).  I am also a recent pledge to the sorority Kappa Alpha Theta.

Thank you so much for your assistance. It is much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Marie Elyse Krulewitch
