William E. Long Inducted into the New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame

WILLIAM E. LONG is a 1965 graduate of Sterling High School. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University from 1965-69, earning All-Midwest Team honors in 1968 for his play as a midfielder.

Bill began his career as an official in 1978, and has served three terms on the executive board of the New Jersey Interscholastic Lacrosse Officials Association. He has taught the “Cadet Class” for new officials in central New Jersey since 1998.

In 1998, he received the first “Kraz Award” as Official of the Year, selected by New Jersey high school coaches. He was inducted to the Ohio Wesleyan Hall of Fame in 1976 and the Sterling High School Hall of Fame in 1988. Also a football coach, Bill was named to the Pennington School Hall of Fame in 1998 and the Hun School Hall of Fame in 2004.

Bill has been at the Hun School in Princeton, New Jersey for 23 years, serving as dean of students; he was also Hun’s football coach from 1987-97. He previously served as Director of Athletics, head of football, and as basketball coach at the Pennington School from 1971-86.

Bill and his wife of 35 years, Nancy, currently live on the Hun School campus where they raised their four children: Bill Jr., Alison, Marcy, and Mike.
