OWU Alumni Volunteer Opportunities

Board of Trustees (elected/appointed):  The Board of Trustees is the entity legally responsible for all activities of the University.

Alumni Association Board of Directors (by appointment only):  Members of the Board of Directors of the OWU Alumni Association serve as an advisory board that guides and assists the University in maintaining and strengthening contact with all alumni.

Richard M. Ross Art Museum Board of Advisors (by appointment only):  The National Board of Advisors oversees, advises and supports the Richard M. Ross Art Museum of Ohio Wesleyan University in its mission to provide exhibitions of distinctive quality and content, stewardship and growth of its permanent collection, and lectures and educational support for the benefit of the University and the wider central Ohio community.

Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship Alumni Advisory Board (by appointment only):  Members of the Advisory Board act as a visible body of leadership, influence and support with the constituencies served by the Center by, among others, acting as a sounding board and advisor to the Woltemade Center Director, helping to build strong relationships between the business community and OWU, and contributing to student learning through mentoring, experiential projects and classroom visits.

Alumni/Parent Admission Recruitment Team (A/PART): The A/PART program is a joint venture between the Office of Admission and the Office of Alumni Relations. This network of more than 600 alumni and parent volunteers assists in the recruitment process of prospective students, enhancing the personal approach.

Greek Life:  Volunteer opportunities in support of the Greek Community include, but are not limited to, the Alumni Interfraternity Council, Alumnae Panhellenic Association, Chapter Advisors or Advisory Boards, House Corporations, Parent committees and faculty/staff advisors.

Class Reunion Officers and Committee Volunteers:  Assist with the planning of reunion activities; contacting and reconnecting with alumni for class reunions which occur every 5 years on campus during Alumni Weekend.

Regional Alumni and Young Alumni Volunteers: Help to plan and organize events and programs and networking opportunities in their city/region.

The OWUnetworking program: Assists current OWU students as well as alumni with career exploration, networking and provides job placement information.

Office of Minority Affairs Alumni Mentor Program (by application): The Alumni Mentoring program for students of color works to establish dialogue between students and alumni to facilitate conversations about life experiences, provide support and guidance, and increase the level of contact between students and alumni.  In addition, the program allows students to begin networking with alumni early in their college experience.

Annual Fund Class Giving Volunteers (by appointment):  Class Chairs work with classmates to increase Annual Fund giving. In addition, six Decade Chairs, representing each decade from the 1950s through the 2000s, work as special liaisons between staff and Class Chairs.

TEAM OWU (by appointment):  TEAM OWU is a group that works to increase annual giving to the intercollegiate athletic program. The Chair serves as Vice-President of the Alumni "W" Association which is made up of nearly 4,000 former varsity lettermen and letterwomen from around the world. All Battling Bishop athletes automatically become members of the Alumni "W" Association once they don the red and black of a varsity team. For more than eight decades, the Alumni "W" Association has provided the Ohio Wesleyan intercollegiate athletic program with outstanding support and momentum.

Music Alumni Association - The Music Alumni Association was formed in the summer of 2003 with the mission to build a common bond of enthusiasm, loyalty and service of alumni to Ohio Wesleyan Department of Music; to gain greater alumni participation in order to support the department's efforts in development and enrollment.  To learn more check out http://music.owu.edu/musicAlumniAssociation.html
